Hey all,
I know its been a while since I've done much of any posting, but I promise to pick it up again XD.
So I'm in a new guild with the gf as trial members, and all is well so far. We've impressed the fellow guildmates and they seem to enjoy bringing us along for raids. We'll be going in for a speed run of H Naxx tonight, which will be much to my liking since that place has begun to wear me out.
3.1 couldn't come any sooner really. I've definitely had this overwhelming feeling that we've run out of things to do in the game now and most tasks in the game have become somewhat boring to me and the gf.
I took a break from the game during my staycation the past 10 days or so and began playing again when we both could play. To be perfectly honest, I didn't miss the game at all. I was definitely enjoying the time I had with the gf and life in general :). I can't bash the game much though, since its what brought me and my girlfriend together in the first place! Thats an amazing story in itself which I don't have much need to discuss here ;).
The game is amazing for what it offers people. It's a nice escape from your life outside of the game, you just have to be careful not to let it become your life. First and foremost its a game, and its meant for people to socialize and work together to thrash monsters and defend your "world". I've seen firsthand people who've been overcome by the game and lost their jobs, got kicked out of school, and got run down.
So yes, be excited that Ulduar is coming out soon -- but don't let it take over your social life!
I'll post again after our run tonight to let you all know how our speed run goes.

New Guild, Not much else
Well, after another terrible raiding night (consistent with the fail we've been experiencing the past few weeks) my gf d/ced from the raid last time and the guild leader kicked her from the guild. This was the last straw for both of us and I promptly logged on and kicked my own characters and removed myself from the guild. Outermost is no more. The current leads from the guild did not want to listen to the pleas of everyone around them to not let all players switch to roles they want to fit into. "We need an elemental shaman" he says "we need a feral dps druid" the other said. Among plenty of other comments which ultimately led the guild to have about 21 dps, 2 tanks and 2 healers for core and the rest were picked up from who knows where and were expected to fix this issue we were having of not being able to clear content we cleared over and over again with plenty of ease.
That guild is in shambles and I'm glad we left. My gf and I recently applied to Ethereal and were promptly invited for trial memberships within 2 days of our apps. So far they have been fun and very understanding with our situation and the fact that we'd like to raid together. I won't be around the computer too much for the rest of the month, but I'll update with any other news if I happen to raid.
Peace out!

The Almost Undying :(
Well, we went in to attempt an Undying 10 man Naxx run last night... and We lost one person on Thaddius by crossing positive and neutral charges :(. The run was going very smooth until then, and we ended up disheveled and lacking in focus afterwards. People stepped away from their A-game and swapped it out with their I don't care game. Understandable considering there's nothing in 10 man content that we want.. we just were interested in the achievement.
So no Undying for me or my girlfriend this week, but we'll try again next week and see how that goes.

Heroic Sartharion 3D, NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!
So last night we walked into Sartharion's Lair, the Obsidian Sanctum to work on Sarth 3D.
To be honest, I didn't really feel like coming home to more work when I'm overloaded at work as it is. That being said, even though I wasn't very excited to make progression I still went along and gave it my all.
It felt like we were back in our training wheel days of learning Sartharion 2D. Everyone was attempting to give it their all, but we ran into a few snags. Some healers continued to die over and over again, some missed seeing the voids on the ground, some literally jumped into the voids attempting to dodge the drake's breath as the tank was moving him.... etc.
My girlfriend and I couldn't help but feel some frustration after seeing continual wipes due to the same problems and we expressed our utmost "concern" to each other of what was occurring before our very eyes. The dps were okay for the most part as long as they continued to watch for fissures and kept a keen eye on our drake tank (he was adjusting to having to move the 1st drake into the 2nd drake's landing position, so we had to adjust our own running paths to avoid getting blasted in the face by a breath).
We had one promising run where we had downed the 2nd drake, but had instantaneously lost our Main Tank and Add Tank. Other than that we lost focus and had to call it an early night. We do have some members who lack in a decent internet connection / PC to play the game when we're attempting a difficult event like Sartharion 3D. Most attempts had followed through with a tank DCing or 1 or 2 Healers DCing all at the same time.
Some people thought we had made no progress, but with the surprise DCs .. what do you expect.
We will be headed back in there again Thursday.

Sunwell... Preparation for T8 content?
Thats right. Our guild is using one of our raid nights to do Sunwell progression lol. Think of it this way.. Yes its easier now that we're 80 in T7.5, but the encounters take knowledge of the fight and a lot of movement -- and they still wipe the raid if you do it wrong.
We went in last week with high hopes, but we were lacking people on for the event. We got up to the Eredar Twins, then called it a night.
Last night we walked in to get a good start on the place so our raid night tonight could concentrate more on the bosses we struggled with. We'll begin tonight with Felmyst. Felmyst is a difficult encounter when people are lacking the focus to dispel, move and watch the paths for beams / plague. Give it a try, I bet you'll wipe :).
The main reason why we're going back to the Sunwell is to get our mindsets back into what a real raid is supposed to feel like. We're supposed to have discipline and focus when trying to grind out the content. With that in mind, don't sacrifice fun either. You have to have balance to have a happy raid group. Once you concentrate too much on one or the other, you start to have detrimental effects on your group. You start wiping, you lose focus, people get frustrated.
Keep this in mind when you're preparing your guilds for Ulduar, it's not going to be as easy as you think ;).
By the way.. T8.5 with the kilt / surcoat = hawt, T8.5 with pants = ghey.

You did what in one raid night?
So there we were, getting prepared for raid night, and being told to get to the Eye of Eternity for our 25 man raid night.
We walk in, get buffed up, 2 shot Malygos.
"Everyone get to Dragonblight, we're going to do Sartharion 2D." So we make our way over. Someone notices that we just took control of Wintergrasp. "Change of plans everyone, lets get a port to Dalaran and everyone head to the Vault!" shouts the guild leader.
20 Minutes later.. 25 Vault of Archevon cleared, and the guild leader picks up again: "Okay, everyone head back to OS and take a 5-10 min bio."
Expecting to have at least a few attempts and get him down once again.
About 45 minutes and 1 shot later, Sarth 2D down.
Much to the surprise of the guild leader, he gets anxious and tells everyone to head to Naxxramas for some more raiding lol.
So we decide to call it a night after 5 bosses in Naxx. What a rush! All in 3.5 hours, we cleared almost the entirety of content available to us! We turned our 3 day core raid week into an easy 2 day. To make up for the quick run through, we're going to be doing Sunwell as a mandatory raid night now to get in preparation for the complexity of Ulduar raids.
My girlfriend and I both managed to pick up a new piece of gear last night (I finally replaced my last blue!), so we were both pleased with our hectic run :).
Expect more news upcoming this week!
Oh, and I had a 200,403 damage crit on an understudy during the Instructor Razuvious fight ;).

Heroic: Sartharion + 2 Drakes Down for Outermost!
Hey all, sorry for the long hiatus in posts -- it was a rough week.
So as a guild we walked into Sartharion to make more progression work on Sartharion +2D. We had 21 people to start, and ended with 23 people in raid. Yes, our first 2D kill was with 23 people! To add to the bit of hilarity, I was healing lol. So we had 5 healers in there, including me (which I'll say that I was about a 1/2 healer since none of my gear was enchanted haha).
Much to our surprise it worked and our kill was smooth as butter! Since I had so much practice as melee dodging the firewalls and avoiding adds, it was a pretty easy transition when healing. I only got hit by the firewall once, and I bubbled out of it :).
I'm very proud of our guild's accomplishments so far, we're definitely progressing well as a newer guild on the server. All we have left for progression is Sartharion 3D and the 6 minute Malygos kill. Should be interesting and keep us occupied until Ulduar (I hope).
I hope all of you have a pleasant rest of the day, I'm taking Monday in stride and trying to not let nerves and stress get to me with my deadlines approaching :P.

Welcome back!
Hey all,
Welcome back from your Valentine's Day weekend. I hope you all had an enjoyable one ( Mine was outstanding!).
I know I was out for a while, but hey -- I've come back with some news too ;).
After recovering from the wonderful weekend I spent with my love, we went in for some more progression work on 2D Sartharion last night.
WOW were we close to getting it. We had 2 awesome attempts that should have been a down and out but something went haywire. Our drake tank lost agro on the second drake... then that was followed by a breath for 12k+ on about 1/2 the raid, wiped out 3 healers, then the rest is history. SO CLOSE.
We spent 2.5 hours on him and finally gave in and just took him down once again with 1 drake for an easy kill to close out the night. We had tons of people D/Cing multiple times, had 4-5 people leave, so it was difficult to get everyone on the same page.
We'll be headed to Heroic Naxx / Malygos tonight again, so expect to see me in at least 1 new piece by tomorrow :D.

Have a Great Valentine's Weekend!
Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day and to enjoy the weekend!
Stay safe, make your special someone happy, and if you don't have someone special -- treat yourself to something nice. Hang out with friends, family, just reconnect :).
If you're really bored, work on your Fool for Love achievement haha.
Luckily, whatever bug I had passed through pretty quickly and I'm feeling great again so I can enjoy myself this weekend :D.
Take care all,
Nightknight

Love is in the air... and apparently so is the Flu.
Good morning everyone..
Well, I wish it was a better morning :P.. So the valentines day event started up and everyone is feverishly running around professing their love to any man or woman guard they lay their eyes on lol.
As for the real life, it seems as if the Flu has decided that it too needs to rue the day as well. So not only did I catch the love bug in game and run around with my sweetheart trying to get the titles with each other.. but I caught the flu bug as well /sad panda. So I decided to catch up on some major sleep yesterday (think I had a good run for about 12-14 hours of sleep) and it helped tremendously. Now I've been chugging water and anything with vitamin C all day and keeping as hydrated as possible to fight this off before all the Valentines day events start kicking off this weekend :P.
I may or may not run to finish off Naxx tonight if I'm still not feeling up to snuff by tonight.
Hope you guys are staying healthy and getting enough sleep. You'll need it to fight off this bug.

Sartharion 2D Moar AoE preez.
Just when you thought that Sartharion was a cake walk... He'll take a few of his buddies with him to wreak havoc!
So we walked into Sartharion for some more progression work on Sartharion 2D last night. Since the 3.0.8 patch they gave guilds benefit to going into the portals when they spawn for each drake. So what did we try to do? Zerg Sarth and his 2 buddies and said screw the portals. Did we succeed? Lets continue..
To be curt, no. We failed with brilliant shades of red as the blood of our bandwidth inclined guild members dropped like flys to big red circles of death. What caught most people is that these void zones are HUGE. You literally have to run away from it as soon as it spawns on the ground or you'll die. I'll admit I got burned once by it, but did I do it after that? Not once. These fights really require everyone to pay attention and have a decent computer and a good internet connection.
So after 2.5 hours of attempts, we said screw it, took down a 2nd drake and one shot Sarth + 1D. At least I took home that achievement with my 60g+ repair bill :P.
I guess something to write home about was that both me and my girlfriend came out #1 and 2 on dps for the kill haha. Besides that it was a pretty uneventful night.
Oh yeah, we did happen to run 10 Maly and Sarth 1D on Sunday, and I picked up the shield off of Malygos for an off set piece :D. Pretty cool shield that one is.
I think we're headed back into Naxx tonight, so keep an eye out for a post of fun, slight boredom and possibly new lewts (zomg, NightKnight might get something new?) .

Give Me Some Achievements Baby!
Well, the past few days have been pretty eventful. Since the last post, I cleared 25 Naxx, 10 Malygos and 10 Sartharion + 1 Drake for the first time with my new guild.
When I wasn't raiding, I went on some runs to finish off my Northrend Dungeon Master and Champion of the Frozen Wastes (clear all heroic dungeons and 10 or 25 sarth, maly and Naxx).
Woot! Longest title ever haha. Thanks to my sweetie for pushing me along and helping me get those last dreadful heroics over with ;).
Even though I miss my old guild terribly, I have to say that the new guild is a nice change of pace. Almost everyone in the guild is friendly and helpful (maybe because I'm one of their top dps? lol just kidding!!). I'm back under a DKP system again which I don't mind and it's pretty fair overall. I tend to be on doing nothing during raid times / days anyways so I end up getting in and making my way through and getting my fair share of the DKP.
So now I've officially gone through all of the content except for Sartharion 2D and 3D (we're going in tonight for 2D 25man). I don't see an issue with getting geared up for Ulduar at this pace with a running head start :).
I guess its back to the grind again.. just needed to take a break and spout off on something before I freak out with my current work on my plate.

Heroic Malygos down, 1/2 Heroic Naxx last night
Hey all!
Last night I was invited by the new guild to help them out in Heroic: Eye of the Eternity and to my surprise to do some of Heroic Naxxramas as well.
I walked in knowing the fight for Malygos having done it on normal (but never succesfully lol) and we 3 shot him last night. We had a few people not ready and we ran into an issue with one of the bugs people have been experiencing in the instance. It really is a straight forward encounter and not very difficult as long as you stick together :).
So we headed then to Naxxramas. I was pleasently surprised to find out that I'm still able to top damage having only changed out 2 pieces of gear (t7 legs and loatheb's shadow) since the last time I ran with these guys around 2 months ago. They had boasted about their one ret paladin that supposedly "replaced" me when I didnt join them back when I was running 10 mans with them and they were right, he is a pretty good ret paladin :D. I had to show him up when I walked in though, so I brought my A-game and kept up with their top 5 dps: 2 mages, 1 Hunter, 1 Rogue and the other Ret pally (I ended up #1-3 on boss fights). Surprisingly there was one rogue that was able to keep up with me in dps, though he definitely out geared me lol.
I saw the one ring I've had an eye on for a long while (Ruthlessness) drop and I couldn't bid on it :(. Ah well, I was just glad I got to get in for a random run with them and spend some time with the gf. Everyone seemed happy to have me come with them though they of course had to give me crap about not joining earlier (even though I joined just to be with my girl :D).
As a side note of hilarity... One of the main tanks got "Tanked" last night and was giving some interesting input on Ventrillo last night lol. Lets just say he couldn't seem to get his mouth moving as fast as his brain wanted to talk :P.

Sometimes you just gotta move on..
Well, I had to make a difficult decision this week. My girlfriend and I both play on the same server, but we're in different guilds. I've run plenty with her guild before until they formed up into one of the top guilds (#11) on the server and started a DKP loot system. I stopped getting included in runs, and we had to balance our time together delicately due to our difference in raid schedules.
So I've been pondering for the past week or so if I should jump ship and join up with her so we can at least play together again. I finally scrounged up the courage to tell everyone in guild the situation and what I planned to do about it.
My last raid day with Resolution is Sunday. It's sad, but I didn't break any ties with the friends I've made there and I told them that I was only going to take my paladin to her guild. I made some good friends in that guild and I will miss going on runs with them. Luckily I made a great impression on some of her fellow raid members that I essentially secured a core raid spot so I can play side by side with my little angel :).
Now I get to balance my time leveling my TBC main in Resolution and raiding with Outermost.
Kind of a side note, but when I notified my guild of my leave to play with my girlfriend in her guild spurred one of my RL friends to tell everyone he was leaving the guild as well.. and guess where to? Yep. He got accepted into my new guild as well. Funny coincidence. He expressed his concern about the guild before, but was unsure as to what he was going to do about it. I had my own reason for leaving and its really more just stepping down from my current raid spot in guild, then taking on a role at the new guild so they accept me officially as one of their own members. I was surprised at first with his decision, but I knew he wanted to experience 25 man content. Most of the reason I play the game is due to my friends and I've always tried to have them in the same guild as me so we can "hang out" or w/e in game (luckily they make their own decisions and this time around it just happened to work out). So even though its sad that we both had decided to give our "2 weeks notice" at the same time in guild, I'm glad that at least one of my friends managed to get into the same guild as me.
Thank you Resolution for your hospitality and friendship, the past year and a half has been an experience I won't soon forget. I'll miss raiding with you guys, but remember -- I'm just one /camp /logon to my alt away :).
Cleared All 4 Wings in 3 hours... Nice!
Well, we meandered our way back into Naxx last night and just breezed through. Only 1 wipe, and that was due to our tanks not being in position at the right time on Patchwerk.
I managed to pick up 2 new upgrades though, which is a nice change of pace considering I havent replaced any gear in over a month /sulk. So now I have my 4 piece bonus for T7/7.5 (I have 2 of each) and I'm thinking my dps is going to sky rocket with Loatheb's trinket and a 7 second judgement :D. Judgements are now going to give me a bit more of a fluid rotation since it tends to give me just enough time to judge again before I end up using another cooldown. It will end up fitting itself in during those "down" times in our rotations whilst we wait for our cooldowns to expire lol.
The only hitch is that I replaced my pants that had 80 hit rating on them.. Now i'm about 1.8% off of the hit cap last I checked. Hopefully that won't hinder my performance too much, but there's only one way to find out ;).
So, come Sunday it looks like we'll make quick work of Sapphiron and Kel'thuzad, then take a few hours to make attempts on Malygos! I'm hoping we don't spend too much time in there learning the fight and more so just getting him down and out of the way XD.

Resolution clears Naxxramas!
Well, I wasn't there for the guild first -- but I'm happy they finished it off.
I decided to take the night off from raiding last night (I'm sure I'll hear all about it from the raid lead and guild leader tonight). I just felt like I needed some time to myself to clear my head and take care of some RL stuff instead. Definitely was a nice change of pace than what I'm used to on a Sunday evening.
So they went in and cleared Naxx for the first time as a guild, woohoo. I'm not enthralled with the pace we've took getting into raiding again in the first place, so its nice to see it cleared now. Personally I felt like it should have been cleared at least a month ago.
Although I am more excited about our first encounter with Malygos considering I've only assisted in attempts at him before and have yet to see him down. Lately I've just had a lack of desire to raid or play the game nearly as much as I have before, but this is due to the fact that I have a special woman in my life :).
I can definitely see why a few of my friends stopped playing over time -- WoW can interfere with more important life events! So yeah, WoW is / was a placeholder for me. It takes time out of my day to "accomplish" things that are trivial, its a fun escape from life and in some cases loneliness. I do have to admit that it is fun to grab your s.o. and run an instance with her when you both have time ;).
So, Cheers to Reso on clearing Naxx and cheers to getting outside every once in a while lol.

Green Proto Drake Madness!
Woot! Behold the mighty Green Proto-Drake!
I forgot to open my egg right away today and ended up opening it about 2 or so hours later than when it hatched and BAM I got my first proto-drake! It took 4 Weeks of eggs for it to finally drop for me and I couldn't be happier! Just the tip of the iceberg of greatness for me this week.
Take a peek!

A Weekend to Remember
Wow. That is all I can say about this past weekend. I don't think I've ever been this happy before (not pertaining to the game at all really).
While attempting to think through all of the great things that happened this weekend I did manage to get a lot of achievements.
Achievements completed this past weekend:
The Fall of Naxxramas
World Explorer (woo hoo title :P) << This took me about 8 hours to complete baring that I had completed both Northrend and Outlands prior
Old World Raider - Had to finish AQ20 and AQ40 for this
As for guild raiding...
We progressed through every wing with ease in our first raid week (2 day raid week) and ran out of time when we got to 4 horsemen. So in our first week we got through everything in Naxx except 3 bosses. Not bad for a first attempt in there as a guild.

My Armory Page
At the request of a few bloggers, here is my armory link:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Vek%27nilash&n=Nightknight
My spec is a pvp /pve hybrid that has been rocking the house lately. I've got everything I want for raiding and everything I need for arena. I didnt pick up the 3% haste due to the shaman in my raid group having a 20% haste buff. This allowed me to pick up on the improved hand of freedom (100% chance to break snare). Check it out!

What a week so far..
Just stopping in for a quick thought. This week has been crazy (in a good way). It's probably been one of the best weeks I've had in quite a while really (minus the work stress). I received a promotion at work, started raiding with the guild finally and a beautiful soul has found her way into my life. So much good and it just doesnt seem like I've had the time to really appreciate it all. Hopefully this weekend will be a good time to just sit back and soak it all in.
Sunday is our next raid night, so I'm sure you'll see an update on Monday about our adventure (or misadventures) back into Naxx for more progression.

Raid Night 1: Success!
So last night we walked into Naxxramas for the first time as a guild. We were unsure as to our expectations of the guild being that we havent raided since last summer. Another kicker was that we lacked a 3rd healer.
Well we walked our way over to the Arachnid quarter... cleared and one shot every boss. Loots abound for our rogue and resto druid :).
Made our way over to the Construct quarter... Patchwerk down in 1 shot. Struggled with Grobbulus due to the lack of heals, so we headed on to the Plague quarter. Noth the Plaguebringer down in one shot. Raid leader didnt want to bother with the Heigan dance last night lol. Headed over to the DK quarter.. Instructor Razuvious down in 2 shots (first shot needed the tanks to coordinate better with taunts / reapply the MC).
We then had made it to our cut off time for raiding (3 hours for the first night), but we all agreed to walk in for some easy gear from Archevon. Rogue and Mage gear lol. Our first night was very nice to our Mage, Rogue and Druid which will help boost their dps and help us take down the bosses faster, so its all good!
Overall I was very pleased with our progress and can really see that blizzard made this expansion truly easy. In the last expansion it usually took my guild a couple shots at each boss to get it down and it seemed more challenging. We were used to the 25 man content pushing through in TBC and it was cool getting to learn the fights and finally get that boss down with all the coordination.
I can also see people getting burnt out on the content even faster than in previous expansions due to the lack of anything to look forward to. Being able to clear the entry raids (sartharion, vault of archevon and naxx) in your first week of raiding is pretty sad. We're a casual raiding guild (2 nights a week) and we still managed to get to BT and Hyjal in TBC.. we thought that was a good fit really. I would have liked to see more of BT and get into Sunwell, but it was something to strive for.
The main thing keeping me playing is the people. I have a lot of friends in my guild (both RL and met in game) and I could see myself quitting the game if it wasnt for them being around or if I was in a different guild. I lack seeing the challenge in the game. Yes they have 1, 2 or 3 drakes up in Sartharion, but that doesn't make the experience any different. I see leaving the extra drakes up just as a pure boredom run or if you're an achievement whore lol. It really doesnt take away that you're seeing the same content over and over each week. I agree wholeheartedly with others that have posted about this that I believe that blizzard may have gone a little too easy on bringing the pure casuals in to see all of the content.
The only encounter I've seen that does bring a challenge is Malygos. Not because it takes a lot of skill to do, but because people don't understand the mechanics of the drake's abilities (this is also why people almost never run heroic Occulus).
Depending on how long it takes to get the T8 content into the game, I can see many guilds taking a raiding break until then.

Raiding Starts for Resolution of Vek'nilash!
It's finally that time everyone. The guild I belong to (Resolution) is finally headed into raiding once again. Once a 25 man raiding guild, we are now progressing through 10 man content. At our current status we're not going to be headed into 25 man content for a while, at least from the impressions I got from our Raid and Guild leaders. Myself having been through all of Naxx in 10 man and most in 25 man, I'll be the main source of knowledge for our progression. Most of our players have had a chance in Naxxramas at least once before, as well as having formed a couple Vault of Archevon and Obsidian Sanctum runs in the past weeks.
Most of us are ready to go and blow through the content as we've seen other guilds do already. Our core raid members are suited for the job and we should accomplish a lot in our first raid week this week.
Wednesday is our first official raid night of our raid schedule for WotLK. I've already had the chance to play with both of our tanks and even at my gear level in comparison with theirs, they are both capable of keeping threat up enough to keep it off any of our dps (considering I can pump out 4k+ at any given time lol).
I've also continued with my ventures of 2v2 and recently joined a 3v3 with a few members from the top guilds on the server. We've broken the 1600 barrier on both! I'm slowly picking up more pvp gear, but I've mostly tried relying on the PvE burst damage capacity to blow down my opponents fast enough. If I wear my pvp gear, it makes for somewhat of a challenge of taking down healers (disc priests, resto shamans and holy paladins).
As a side note of news, I picked up the exalted plate boots from the Ebon Hold peeps and gemmed it up with +16 str gems and the hit / crit enchant. Pushed me up +.7% crit and 4 AP, as well as the new cloak I picked up from the Valor emblem vendor gave me an additional +.9% crit! After these upgrades I checked my stats and I'm up to 34.1% crit and close to 3200 AP unbuffed!
So we'll see what tomorrow night brings us raidwise. Should be fun!
